There are a lot of common types of growths that occur in the mouth.  While the vast majority of these growths or conditions are completely benign, your dentist may decide to send you to our office for a biopsy.  For the most part, biopsies performed at our office are sent to the oral pathology department at The Ohio State University for microscopic analysis.  Oral Pathologists are specialized dentists who can identify a wide variety of conditions using various microscopic techniques.  Based on findings made by the pathologist, an accurate diagnosis and follow up plan can be made.
